“That’s probably boring!”
This is the expected reaction when the topic of eating healthier comes up… maybe not? Truth is that a lot of people have a blank attitude towards the concept of healthy eating and so are not excited about meals further than the results that we expect them to produce. With this, even the most enthused eventually quit, trying to improve their eating habits.
The secret to consistent healthy eating is to keep eating what we are already eating but with a few simple tweaks. Here are a few questions to guide you to build a consistently healthier and sustainable eating habit:
What makes a healthy meal?
Recognising the basic components of a healthy meal is important. Regardless of the results you hope to achieve with your eating style, the components remain the same: Protein, fruits and vegetables (vitamins and minerals), carbohydrates or starch, fats and
water.
What are the components of my typical meals?
By assessing your current meals, you come to the realization of the components. Do they contain all that you need and are looking for? Do not forget that you are already consistent with what you eat and all that is needed is to enhance the meals so your consistency actually pays off.
What to do to make my meals healthier?
Once you understand the components of your food, you get to identify the missing components of a healthy meal. Here you need to optimize what you are already eating by adding the missing components, change portions or even remove other components. Mind that the elimination does not apply to the whole meal but to some very much unneeded components.
How to consistently eat healthier
Creating a menu plan that you will stick to and enjoy at the same time is the goal here and this can only be achieved once you stick to what you would normally eat.
First, you study three or four of your most common breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack options through the evaluation process. Then you tweak them to include the
components of a healthy meal. When done, you have your customized menu plan that is full of healthy meals that you love.
How else would anyone be consistent about healthy eating and getting the needed
results?
